Hodka Zeel

Megha and his family, is a Hindu Meghwar family and engaged in the Crafts, especially leather craft practicing by Umra ji, father or Megha and women are doing Embroidery work, Mud-Mirror work. In the Hodka village, his family crafted small home stay facility near to their residence and they are offering local traditional delicious food to their guests. Their home stay is almost 20km before from Great Rann of Kutch and 65km from Bhuj. The stay – circular huts with grass thatch is crafted with mostly locally available material and decorated with Mud – Mirror work, mud walls are decorated with different motifs – which you will find in their embroidery work also. The interior of circular huts, locally called – Bhungas, have a queen size double bed attached bathroom facility and also decorated in the traditional way.

Our kitchen is equipped to cook a light meal after a long day of being on the move. Our home is part of a family home and is on the second floor, which could be a hinderance for old age guests and guests who are differently abled. Being centrally located most basic needs while traveling such as pharmacy, clinics, provision stores, street food etc can be found in less than 1 Km radius.

In the huts, one can get all basic facilities with required equipped amenities, comfortable beds, attached bathroom and western water closet with bathroom amenities. One can experience rural rustic village life while staying in traditional Bhunga and warm hospitality of the host family make memorable stay.

1 Food they serve: 

Traditional Kutchi Vegetarian Cuisine, cooked in very simple way. Baajara Ki Roti, Wheat Roti, seasonal vegetables, Daal or Kadhi/ Karhi {cooked with buttermilk and gram flour – sweet and sour in test} accompany with Rice or Khichdi, a sweet traditionally cooked with local ghee. They set the buffet at the small dining area at the usual time.

2 Handicraft:

The host family shows the embroidery work, leather craft, one can get hands on experience while staying with them. Girls always ready to show their work, they are expert in making small decorative dolls, crafted with used clothes.

3 Folk Music:

 In the Hodka village, there are many folk music artisans; the family can arrange folk music (Usually after dinner) at the center court yard enjoy with the campfire.
